MOE Approves the Toxicity Testing Completed by MPMC

Click Here for the May 26th 2017 Letter to MPMC from the BC MOE

You may recall, when the MOE released the amended permit in April 2017, Section 1.2.4 required that additional toxicity testing be completed to demonstrate that the mine effluent containing the maximum concentrations was not toxic to rainbow trout or daphnia. It appears that MPMC provided a submission on May 19th 2017, which has satisfied this requirement.

We believe ( but we will have this confirmed) that MPMC is now allowed to discharge mine effluent into Quesnel lake with the maximum permitted amounts. This is yet again disappointing for Quesnel lake.

We have created a table for you to see the comparable limits.
